Welcome to the Launceston and North Cornwall Motor Club Website

Although best known for its Tamar and Launceston Classic Road Trials, which attract entrants from all over the country, Launceston and North Cornwall Motor Club also extends a very warm welcome to those finding their way into the world of motorsport with a series of ‘non-damaging’ Summer field trials which enable pretty much anyone, including children, to have a go at competitive driving using pretty much any kind of car or motorcycle. The emphasis is on inclusion and fun.

Seasoned competitors with specialist cars can also take part in three championship-level Sporting Trials, while occasional car road runs and motorcycle trail rides are also organised by the club, which has been running for over 100 years.

Events are held at a variety of venues in East Cornwall and West Devon. Volunteer marshals are always welcome, with training and support given.

  • Tamar Trial 2026 Entries Now Open

    Entries are now open for this year’s Tamar Trial, the 79th running of the event, to be held on Sunday 11th October 2026 catering for motorcycles, combinations and cars.

    We would encourage you to use the online entry form and payment system if at all possible. However, upon request a paper version can be e-mailed over (please contact Simon Riddle, sriddle38@hotmail.co.uk if required).

    We were delighted to be voted ‘ACTC Trial of the Year 2025‘ for last years trial and have been working hard on this years event.

    Notable changes are the start & finish venue now both being at The Wilsey Down, with ample trailer parking in the adjacent cattle market car park which we hope will help with competitors logistics. A couple of new landowners on board with some new sections as well as a few other finds that are planned to be included. 

    Please note that the last two years, we have been fully subscribed so an early entry to ensure a place is encouraged. 

    As always, we appreciate feedback and look to improve the event each year based on this. We again hope to lay on a trial that allows all classes and competitors the chance to score well in the results.

    We really hope that you are able to join us this year – entries close on Friday 2nd October.
